Job Description
It is the responsibility of the Residential Worker, under the direction of the Program Manager to ensure that a normative, home-like environment is provided in the residence; that the physical environment is maintained in a safe and orderly fashion; that planning, organization and implementation of daily routines are carried out in a collaborative manner with the individual client; that individual program plans are developed and, that the rights of the client are respected at all times. A requirement of this program is membership in the Health Sciences Association Union. This position is 34 hours per week: Monday, Tuesday 9am - 5pm; Wednesday, Sunday 4pm - 9pm; and Saturday 4pm - 12am. The starting wage is $15.23 per hour and the start date for this position is September 20, 2008.
Qualifications
Diploma as a community support worker or degree in a related field or many years of relevant experience. Minimum of two years experience working in a residential setting with people with a mental/multiple handicap. Experience and/or training in working with medically fragile, very dependent people, or multiply handicapped individuals. Experience in assessment, program planning and teaching. The ability to communicate effectively and to work cooperatively.
First Aid and CPR training are current and equivalent to WCB requirements. Must possess a valid Class 4 BC Driver's Licence.
